GNC, which stands for General Nutrition Centers, has a rich history that spans over eight decades. The company was founded in 1935 by David Shakarian in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Initially called "Lackzoom," it started as a small health food store that offered yogurt, honey, and other natural products. In the early years, GNC gained popularity for its commitment to providing quality supplements and promoting a healthy lifestyle. As the health and wellness industry grew, GNC evolved into a leading global brand, expanding its product range to include vitamins, minerals, sports nutrition, and weight management products. The company became publicly traded in 1983 and continued its growth through strategic acquisitions and partnerships. Over time, GNC established a strong presence both in physical retail locations and e-commerce platforms, catering to a wide range of customers seeking to enhance their well-being. Throughout its history, GNC has remained dedicated to providing trusted nutritional solutions and empowering individuals to live healthier lives creating the slogan GNC Live Well.

Silas grabbing Creatine, what he calls "The most crucial supplement anyone can take"

I had the pleasure to interview Silas Thomas who is a full-time student at Western Oregon University as well as a retired baseball player. He played baseball at a collegiate level for three years one year at Becker College In Worcester Massachusetts where he then transferred to play for two years at Fitchburg State University In Fitchburg Massachusetts. He currently works at GNC in Albany Oregon.

When I asked why he chooses to work an hour away from his school and where he lives he told me "I just really enjoy working with supplements and this was the closest job I could do that and I didn't want to settle for a job I didn't truly enjoy...The supplement discount is also a plus”.

To keep himself healthy and on the go, Silas told me about his "supplement stack" (supplement stack is just your daily supplements). “I take a Multivitamin in the morning, 5g Creatine, pre before workouts, Protein Powder when I’m behind on my protein for the day, Magnesium Glycinate 420mg, Vitamin D3 50mcg, Calcium 1000mg, Zinc 50mg, and Fish Oil 1065mg at night”. Silas told me he sees himself working here for years to come because he loves seeing people work to reach their fitness goals.
